Child Magazine has recently featured Wellingborough Day Nursery in their Jan/Feb publication. Here’s the article in full:
Wellingborough Day Nursery has recently unveiled its change of name following the sale of The Toy Box. The well-known nursery on Croyland Road in the town is now under new ownership and management.
“We’ve been focusing on refurbishing the premises,” said co-owner, Sharon Peach. “With new furniture and toys, it seems a good time to relaunch the nursery under a new name.”
The nursery is now concentrating on working with local parents to improve the service further. A Parent Forum has recently been formed, to advise the new owners on what they would like to see and the nursery has responded to requests to improve communication.
“We now have Daily Record Sheets for all parents that want them,” said manager, Jo Stainsby, “as well as monthly newsletters. We’ve created a new website with regular blogs, and we also have Facebook and Twitter pages to keep parents updated on things like our menus and activities. That’s on top of the newly-introduced Parents’ Evenings!”
The staff have been working closely with the manager to introduce new ways of assessing and tracking children’s development, which has been well-received by parents. The menus, too, have had an upgrade and the nursery cook has helped advise on the introduction of freshly cooked meals such as Pork Casserole and Mackerel Kedgeree.
“There have been some big changes,” agreed Jo. “But the children are thriving and feedback from parents has been overwhelming positive. We are really excited about the future of the nursery.”
